Windy Vista Point

This desert experience is really my first

And I wouldn’t quite say it’s been the worst

A new kind of beauty it is indeed

My appreciation for it is growing from it’s start as a seed.

Learning the names of my new favorite plants,

Creosote and cholla and saguaros – so many creatures I can’t

pick just only one, but admire them all each the same

for their unique adaptations to this home they claim.

It’s vast and crisp and dusty and dry,

to traverse it all I will give it a try.

Harsh and unforgiving yet breathtaking too –

oh desert, I’m eager to get to better know you.
